Celebrate the Season While Saving Energy
Anchorage, AK - November 23, 2024 — This December, the City of a Million Lights returns for its fourth annual celebration, inviting residents and businesses to spread warmth, joy, and a little sparkle. Sponsored by Anchorage Community Development Authority, this cherished event is the perfect way to make your neighborhood shine brighter.
To participate, decorate your home or business with holiday lights, take a photo of your display, and share it on Anchorage Community Development Authority’s Facebook page throughout December. Weekly prizes will be awarded to the most creative and festive displays!
But let’s make this year’s celebration bright and environmentally responsible. To help participants save on electricity while still shining brightly, we encourage everyone to:
• Use LED Lights: These energy-efficient lights consume up to 90% less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs and last significantly longer.
• Set a Timer for Day Use: Use a timer to ensure your lights shine at their best during the evening. This will
automatically turn your lights on and off, saving energy and reducing costs.
“Decorating with LED lights isn’t just good for your wallet and saves energy, it’s good for our city,” said Mike Robbins, ACDA Executive Director. “Together, we can light up our city responsibly and make this holiday season even more meaningful.”
Join us in making our city a holiday wonderland, creating lasting memories and a brighter, more sustainable future.
Happy Holidays to all!
